The below table is a
recapitulative table of all the backpackers surveys we conducted or received via
the site's forms. Considering that most of the backpackers we asked did not visit all
the countries nor answer all the surveys, such a comparative table is obviously
subjective.

Evolutions since September 2001 :
- From the "backpacker's general" point of view,
all the countries improved their rates, with the exception of HK and Macau.
Nepal is still No1, followed by India and Myanmar. Malaysia (No9) exchanged rank
with Singapore.
- From the "criteria" point of view,
all countries also improved their rates, with the exceptions of HK. Thailand remains No1, followed by Myanmar and India.
Malaysia and Cambodia overtook China and HK at the No6 and No9 positions.
- From the "global" point of view,
only HK and Vietnam lost some points. Thailand remains No1, followed by Nepal
and Myanmar. Other ranks remained the same.

(1) "Generally" Rate : what the backpackers generally
think of the country
(2) "Criteria" rate : we weighted separately each
criteria according to its relative importance (number next to each criteria)
(3) "Global" rate : we multiplied the "Criteria" rate
by the percentage of backpackers who liked the country and those who would
recommend it to their friends. We did not include the "Would happily come
back" results as the
size of the country usually influences the answer.
